The Third Sunday of Lent
On this Sunday, in 2024, the Gospel tells the story of the money changers in the temple and how Jesus chased them away, in (Jn. 2:15), "And making a whip of cords, he drove them all, with the sheep and oxen, out of the temple; and he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables.
Why did Jesus "throw the money changers out of his heavenly Father's temple" (John 2:13–17)? The money changers at the temple were thieves, taking advantage of the people seeking to worship God with their tithes and sacrifices.
