You are God’s Chosen ones
A very short Reflection by Fred Schaeffer, OFS
Looking ahead a few days, there is mention in Holy Scripture, that we are God’s Chosen ones. (see Col 3:12-15 rsvce), “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, and patience, forbearing one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful.”
To be His chosen ones thus carries a responsibility, and that’s clearly shown in this Scripture. A compassionate person is one who is able to take on the pain of a sufferer. Can you share in the suffering of another person? “When Jesus saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, for they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things.” (Mark 6:34). Jesus Heart was moved with pity, He had empathy with them. He was compassionate.
Jesus showed His love for the people. That’s why we ask Him, in prayer: “Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like onto Thine.”
Peace and all Good,
